Long time, no see

Howdi folks - been a while. It's certainly not been a case of "no news is good news". As you can see from the graphs on the right, I've put on a serious amount of weight over the last few months. I'm not going to get into the excuses, but I'm happy to report that I went on my first run yesterday since March (and probably my fifth since the NYC marathon).

I've been wanting to get out for a run for a while, but it's been manic at work. That and I've actually been afraid of how bad it'd be - honestly. I was afraid of being unable to even do a minute! My fiancée had given up asking me to go out for runs with her months ago (she kept it up, going out on her own). So yesterday I asked her to go out with me for a 10 x (3 min + 1 min) session, which thankfully she was glad to do.

We started out well and I actually went for six minutes non-stop - I was going to go further but forgot to inform Idoia of this and she'd six minutes in her mind, which is fair enough. The rest of the run was pretty tough, especially towards the end where I really struggled. Still, we got through it and hopefully starting back on the road to where I was this time last year (about 12kg lighter!).

Any encouragement is appreciated.

New Season

New GAA season starting up - first night training for me tonight and boy do I feel unfit! Still, can't get any worse (I hope).

On a separate note, got to love the long evenings since the clocks changed! Also, the weather seems to have changed for the better :P

Back doing a little bit of running

Been doing a little running over the last few weeks - nothing major and it's a struggle, but it's a start. While I still have some residual fitness (i.e. I'm not at the point where I need to restart the C25K), some of my efforts have been pathetic in comparison to what I was doing 6mths ago!

Had a 40 min run last night with Idoia at a very good pace (6m 24s per km) for us - our runs together are normally over the 7m per km mark. We'd another run at the weekend, which was a disaster from my point of view, where I had to stop around 20 mins in - she carried on, I struggled for about 10 mins and thankfully she came back and I got a second wind and ran around 30 mins home.

I'm going to start logging my weight daily again - notice all the red on the graphs! What a disaster.

Long time, no post

30th of November apparently. Been meaning to post, but to be honest, haven't had much to write about. I haven't done much since early November, except pile on some weight (I'm up around 114.5kg these days - so much for getting under 110kg for the new year).

I've started a little running these days - the saying is really true - "use it or lose it". Hard to believe I finished a marathon in November given my pathetic attempts of late. Actually, my first run last week I actually had to change the timezone from East Coast US to GMT!!!

Enough excuses, hope to pick up the blogging \ running again now. Very busy work wise but got to start getting out and about. Thanks to everyone who's been asking why I've not been posting.
