After hurting my ankle the weekend before last, I've been taking it pretty easy exercise wise. At least thats my excuse. Up to today, I'd basically done one run, two cycles last week and a couple of dips in the pool, but I was probably using the ankle as an excuse. I'm not saying that it was fine, its not, but it wasn't bad enough to justify my slackness over the last ten days.
So today I go to a physio to check it out. Really should have went sooner, but thought I'd have to go see my GP to be referred so wasn't too bothered. When things weren't quite right after a week (walking was fine, but still a slight dull pain) I sorted it all out and got the physio appointment.
Thankfully nothing too serious done...no ligament damage like I had before. Probably just a slight bone bruise. He was also saying that my cartilage is probably slightly worn as well from previous injuries. Anyways, he worked his magic and it basically feels like I've got a new ankle. Honestly, the difference is amazing.
After a brief weights session, went for a brief run. Wasn't really planning on such a brief run, but I was seriously struggling. Not having done much cardio over the last week was really telling. Ankle was fine, so hopefully give it another (better) bash tomorrow. Went for a swim afterwards, slight improvement, but nothing special to report.

C25K: Week 6 Run 1
Completed Week 6 Run 1 of the Couch to 5k Program earlier this evening in the gym. As this consisted of intervals, I upped the pace slightly to 9.5kmph from the previous run which was a long run of 25min at 9kmph.
Because I also want to start doing longer runs than 30mins to build up stamina, I done an extra set and made it up to a 45min run by adding two 4min runs at the end (split by a 1m rest). All in all, a good workout, which kinda got easier as it went along (if that makes sense).
I was at the physio earlier today and got some good news. The old scar tissue on the ankle has more or less been healed and now its just a matter of building up the strength of the ankle. He gave it a massage and it felt great afterwards. Didn't even hurt this evening while running on it.

Ankle Trouble
My ankle has been causing me a little bit of discomfort over the last few weeks. Nothing too much to worry about, as I've always had weak ankles since going over them playing astro-football a few years back. What was causing some worry though was when my ankle started to hurt while I was in the pool.
Anyways, been to the physio about it and there's definitely damage there. Basically it'll need strengthing, and he's given me a few exercises to do over the next few weeks. He also gave it a good massage, which hurt like hell when he was doing it, but felt great this morning.
Went to GAA training tonight, went well. Went to go for a half an hour jog afterwards in the gym, but ankle was killing me. Just hopped in the pool instead for the half hour.
Got another busy weekend ahead. Back in Ireland for a wedding on Saturday, up all Sat night for an eight thirty flight back and then got a game at two thirty in London. I'll probably be wrecked for the rest of the week.
